Summer Camp Director (Seasonal Position)
The Well School Summer Camp program provides exploratory learning opportunities focused on personal growth, building friendships, and a summer of fun as young children interact with their peers.
The Well School Summer Camp program has been in existence for over a decade and serves the local community while increasing the school’s visibility as a leading PreK-8 school in the Monadnock region.
The Summer Camp Director will report directly to the Head of School and establish strong and professional relationships with their staff. In addition, the Camp Director will be the liaison between the staff members and the Head of School.
Start Date: The official in-person start date is June 9th, 2025, however the director must be available during the spring, either in person or remotely, for 5 hours per week, in order to develop a robust and exciting summer camp program.
Salary: $15,000
Duties and Responsibilities
Create a robust summer camp program
Oversee the registration process
Recruit and hire individuals to lead the individual camp programs
Train all counselors in the areas or program development, working with young children, supporting fellow counselors and communicating with parents/guardians
Provide and oversee performance evaluations and feedback for staff involved in the summer camp program
Oversee the camper experience with focus on creating a positive and worthwhile summer camp immersion
Step in to lead programs or sessions if needed
Provide weekly reports for parents
Ensure optimal condition and safety of all equipment and facilities
Keep concise summer camp records
Create positive and collaborative relationships with admin staff
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Outdoor education experience, outdoor education leadership experience preferred
Teaching experience, summer camp experience, leadership experience
Supervisory experience. Oversee staff.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsible, empathetic, trustworthy and professional
Strong communication skills
Able to navigate details and work collaboratively
Computer use
High energy and enthusiasm
