The Wellness Plan Medical Centers is currently recruiting for Dental Registration Clerk. This position reports to the Dental Director. This position requires at least 1 full year of dental registration experience. Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred.
BASIC NATURE OF POSITION: Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules visitors and patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner. Performs clerical functions, answers the phone, processes all patient encounters, accounts receivable, presentation of financial treatment plan options, recall / re-care system.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year of dental experience needed
- High School Graduate or GED
- Current CPR certification
Experience/skills/ability required (number of years and type):
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a dental registration clerk.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service or patient relations experience.
- Demonstrated success with clear thinking and ability to reorganize as needed.
- Demonstrated success in working independently, prioritization and problem solving.
- Demonstrated success in organization abilities.
- Demonstrate success in computer skills including ability to use computer for scheduling, dental records, and digital x-rays.
- Demonstrated success in customer service / patient services, or working with the general public, preferably in a dental care facility.
- Demonstrated success in managing difficult customer / patient situation.
- Significant knowledge of dental practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Demonstrated success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of dental devices and equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all patient records and related documentation are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements
- Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures
- Affect favorable billing and collection outcomes, ensure all patient services and billing information is collected and submitted timely and accurately
- The Wellness Plan is in compliance with privacy and security regulatory requirements of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Ensure compliance with The Wellness Plan’s Affirmative Action Program.
- Answers phone, schedules appointments, prepares appointment schedules for distribution each day
- Presents record forms to patient for completion and signatures
- Updates records for no-shows and for patients who left without being seen
- Provide referral information to patients
- Maintains positive and productive interpersonal relationships with patients, providers, and other staff
- Provides appropriate reports to management as requested, communicates with supervisor any problems that may occur during daily operations.
- Demonstrates ability to operate a multi-line inbound phone call system
- Maintain office supplies and assist in maintenance of petty cash
- Oversee patient relations and handle patient complaints under dentist supervision
