Stewart Moving & Storage is an independent moving company with 12 facilities in 5 states. Our Portsmouth, VA location has an opening for an experienced local dispatcher/ freight coordinator. Responsibilities:
- Prepare all necessary documents (bill of ladings, contracts) daily for moving jobs.
- Meet with the moving teams upon their return and ensure the trucks are ready for the following day
- The Dispatcher is responsible for helping with all logistical planning regarding every moving job
- Monitor moving jobs for efficiency, ensuring jobs are being conducted within appropriate time frames, service quality expectations, and move restrictions.
- Properly documenting incidents such as motor vehicle accidents or safety related matters in accordance with company policy.
- Strategically coordinate and scheduling moving teams to specific moving jobs.
- Follow up on moving teams and maintain progress reports.
- Review and resolve move day issues.
- handle inbound/outbound freight as well as inbound domestic SIT
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years dispatch experience in the HHG Transportation Industry, preferably military moving industry preferred or minimum of 3 years in operations management experience.
- Ability to work effectively in high volume fast paced time critical environment.
- Communicating effectively with both office staff and movers.
- Knowledge of DOT Regulations
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills
- Basic analytical/mathematical skills
- Preferred work hours: 7a-3:30p Mon- Fri and some Saturdays as needed.
