What are the responsibilities and job description for the FLEET COORDINATOR position at The West Texas Rehabilitation Center?
The primary purpose of the Fleet Coordinator is to maintain the fleet vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations, when applicable. Follows established policies and procedures of WTRC, and as directed by the supervisor, ensure that a successful facilities program is maintained at all times.
- Follows maintenance schedule and schedules regular maintenance of vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on all vehicles as needed.
- Repair vehicles or equipment as needed.
- Orders urgent or emergency repairs on vehicles as needed.
- Provides reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress.
- Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.
- Promptly and accurately complete all jobs, reports and enter data in computer.
- Assess overall running condition/problems of cars, trucks, and trailers and shares report.
- Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed.
- Ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Work and function both individually and as a team for building and repairing equipment.
- Must be able to work around solvents, chemicals, degreasers, diesel fuel ,etc.
- Follows all established safety procedures and precautions.
- Reports unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment to supervisor.
- Maintains infection control and universal precautions when performing all tasks.
- Keeps shop area safe and clean.
- Constructs adaptive equipment.
- Accepts other assignments as directed.
- Assist the Facilities Department as needed with the following:
- Routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc. to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
- Providing basic maintenance services for plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc. as directed.
- Routinely checking all air and exhaust vents throughout buildings.
- Performing ballast replacement, remodeling and painting as needed.
- Providing landscaping maintenance (mow, trim hedges, water, etc.) on a regular basis.
- Overseeing maintenance shop inventory to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained, and purchases are within budget, and updates the supervisor on needs.
- Assisting others with heavy lifting, rearranging of furniture as needed.
This position requires endurance to perform tasks over long periods of work hours and the ability to perform essential functions without posing a "direct threat" in the workplace. Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent. On-the-job training is provided. Must be able to communicate effectively and possess the ability to make independent decisions, multitask, and follow instructions. Required skills: general construction skills; able to operate hand tools; basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing. Must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle. Must have endurance for physical labor.
