Design & Drafting Internship
Westervelt Ecological Services (WES) is seeking a highly motivated student looking to expand their design and drafting skills and apply them to real-world environmental and ecological scenarios.
This is an opportunity to work directly with WES' experienced design and construction team assisting in the design and implementation of ecological restoration projects. Our intern will have the opportunity to gain direct experience with industry standard tools including Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and field GPS units (Trimble, RTK).
Our intern will learn how WES collaborates with stakeholders (government agencies and land trusts) to permanently establish wetland and endangered species habitat. There will be opportunities to join WES ecologists in the field to learn more about habitat and species monitoring.
This paid position is at our office in Sacramento, California . The position is primarily in office to maximize sharing of knowledge and building of design and drafting skills. Depending on success of the internship, there is the opportunity to continue part-time during the school year.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Applicants must be a current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Drafting degree or related program.
- Basic experience or coursework with AutoCAD.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, and effective organization skills.
- Understanding of topography, grading, and drainage.
- Additional areas of knowledge / interest can be helpful : environmental science / ecology, native plants, soils science, hydrology, and or landscape installation and management.
The base salary range for this position is $20 - $22.
