What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Server position at The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village?
Position Summary: The Banquet Server is responsible for efficiently setting up, serving food and beverage in a warm, cordial, courteous and professional manner at assigned banquet functions and breaking down service at the end of the function.
Core Responsibilities:
- Review BEOs for menu details, room setup, food, beverage and audio visual needs.
- Assist the set up staff in table set up, buffet set up, bar set up, etc.
- Check quality and presentation of food before serving.
- Prepare and serve beverages for the function.
- Assure prompt and professional service to all guests.
- Maintain open communication with the Kitchen staff, letting them know immediately of any changes.
- Promptly and quietly remove dirty dishes from the tables as guests finish their course or meal, loading dirty dishes from the function on a cart, and breaking down at the dish lines.
- Clean up after the function; sweep, mop, clean dishes from tables, and put everything away.
- Efficiently complete all side-work lists before leaving.
- Other duties as assigned, specifically related to banquet and food and beverage events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with guests and associates.
- High work ethic and self-initiative
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines
- May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property
- Must possess basic computational ability
- Focus and maintain attention to tasks, and complete work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions
- Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
Physical Requirements:
- Sit, stand and walk for varying lengths of time
- Lift approximately thirty (30) pounds, such as trays, tables, dishes, etc.
- Read and interpret BEOs to understand and verify room set up and menu served.
- Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
