The Shop by WHEAT is currently looking for Retail Sales Associates at our York location! The Shop by WHEAT is part of The WHEAT Collection, a luxury retail company with multiple locations across America. We are excited to re-open in April 2025 for our 8th season on Short Sands and are scheduling interviews now!
Candidates with strong communication skills who can make guests feel welcome in our store will stand out. A familiarity with the brands we carry such as MOTHER, Solid & Striped, Rails, Faherty (there are many more...), is strongly encouraged. A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential guest issues or complaints will make you successful in this role. Ultimately, you will ensure that guests leave our store satisfied and you will contribute to the store’s overall profitability. Previous clothing retail experience is preferred, and individuals must have experience in operating a cash register POS system, basic inventory, and restocking tasks, as well as light cleaning duties.
There are opportunities to continue working with WHEAT outside the season, in our other locations, and in an ideal world this candidate will be open to working with WHEAT in multiple doors.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and make them feel welcomed
- Provide accurate information (e.g. product features and pricing)
- Answer guests’ questions about specific products/items
- Ensure racks are fully stocked and always tidy
- Manage exchanges of merchandise if it should arise
- Be an independent, self-motivated individual who doesn't mind stretches of working solo in a beautiful luxury hotel atmosphere
- Provide daily recap feedback to the Home Office team in end of shift emails and store photos
Skills
- Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Associate or similar role
- Understanding of the retail sales process (greeting, assisting, and checking out guests in store)
- Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
- Track daily sales and count high dollar inventory on hand
- Excellent communication skills, and capable of building relationships
- Flexibility to work weekends
- High school degree
- BA in Fashion, Merchandising, or related field not required, but is a plus!
