POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Vice President, Real Estate (“SVP, RE”) serves as an integral member of the Whittier Trust Real Estate Department reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, Head of Real Estate. SVP, RE provides oversight for the operation of various client real estate portfolios to ensure individual asset stability and maximize operational efficiency and performance in addition to real estate asset management, vendor and sponsor relationship management, market research and business development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Client Portfolio Management
- Directing and overseeing acquisition/disposition/leasing teams and third-party property management, as required, for significant client portfolios.
- Interviewing and recommending real estate industry professionals for assignments and projects related to client assets.
- Negotiate or provide transaction oversight for client property dispositions/acquisitions/leasing and can negotiate and review contracts related to each property as required.
- Working with WTC clients and administration on individual properties as needed.
Asset Acquisition & Management
- Negotiate or provide transaction oversight for client property dispositions/acquisitions/leasing and can negotiate and review contracts related to each property as required.
- Review property budgets and periodic property management reports.
- Oversee environmental issues and remediation as needed.
- Work with attorneys as needed for sales/acquisitions, leasing, and other transactions.
- Provide general underwriting review, property analysis and due diligence for potential new investments.
- Review broker and sponsor offering packages for new acquisitions.
- Interview brokers regarding properties being considered for sale.
- Assist in financing projects as needed.
Business Development
- Initiate and attend meetings with potential WTC Real Estate, Trust, Philanthropic and Investment clients
Ongoing Relationship Management
- Develop relationships with real estate partners and participate as needed in the acquisition of new investment properties and the disposition of selected properties.
Market Research
- Solicit and obtain broker opinions of value or qualified appraisals when required.
DESIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university.
- Post-graduate degree preferred, not essential.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 15 - 20 years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others including employee management and training experience.
- Demonstrated capacity to oversee situations outside of the normal scope of a real estate professional with a willingness to think out of the box, while maintaining compliance.
- Broad background in different product types of real estate.
- Specific knowledge of the Southern California and Western US real estate markets, with a general sense of U.S. real estate.
- Good network of professional contacts.
- Demonstrated adaptation to rapidly changing assignments and priorities and to work in a multi-tasking environment as needed to perform the job successfully.
- Demonstrated capability to manage and prioritize complex projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines.

Salary includes base, bonus, equity consideration, medical, dental & optical benefits and life insurance options.
Base compensation: $150,000 to $250,000.
