POSITION OVERVIEW:


Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Grants Coordinator/Writer oversee a diverse portfolio of grants resources, with responsibility for researching, maintaining and conducting the full grant process for grants allocated to this position. This includes grant writing, administration, and oversight of grants (foundation, corporation, & government).

  • $70,000-80,000/year starting pay, dependent on experience and skillset.
  • This position has an option to be fully remote, provided that the candidate is knowledgeable about and has successful experience in researching, applying to and securing grants from public, foundation and corporate sources in the greater Los Angeles area. Candidates will be asked to provide samples of their success with local funders.

 

Essential Duties:


Overall Function

  • Coordinates the grantsmanship cycle (researching, planning, writing and reporting) to raise institutional support from foundation, corporate and civic sources at identified funding levels toward reaching overall Development revenue goals.
  • Tracks awarded grants through internal and external reporting.
  • Collaborates with Senior Director of Development and team members to build a culture of philanthropy that grows support for TWC

Team Processes

  • Participates in team planning to set annual goals for the team’s Score Card and Key Initiatives, and in the annual solicitation and stewardship calendar.
  • Participates in preparation of annual Grants Plan, serving as a key member of the Grant Planning Team of Leadership, Finance and Development.
  • Participates in annual constituency/prospect planning and updates.
  • Participates in team meetings.
  • Prepares and submits to Senior Director of Development reports for: 1) grants tracking, 2) Leadership reports and 3) Board presentations.
  • In partnership with TWC’s Sr. Director of Development, creates comprehensive campaigns for annual fundraising event and giving campaigns.

Institutional Giving

  • Serves as primary relationship manager for an assigned portfolio of institutional donors and prospects, working through stages of donor relationships (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship).
  • Maintains annual grants tracking calendar, with submission dates, results, and report deadlines, using Donor Perfect; provide monthly updates to Senior Director of Development.
  • Researches and evaluates the feasibility of prospects in line with strategic plan and annual goals.
  • Writes and submits foundation proposals of up to $25,000 (and higher as assigned) toward reaching annual unrestricted fund-raising goals and program-specific needs.
  • Writes and submits corporate requests of up to $25,000 (and higher as assigned) for unrestricted and program-specific proposals.
  • Serves as project coordinator for assigned public funding applications, conducting an analysis of applications and outlining requirements; perform assignments, as determined by project team; responsibilities may include narrative preparation/editing, forms, certifications and preparation for submission.
  • Maintains a Master Agreement source chart with contract dates and interna/external contacts. Prepare and monitor a list of public funding sources for potential grants/contracts.
  • Participates in capital campaign requests.
  • Organizes “hand-off” meetings with Program, Finance, Development and Communications to detail funding uses, reporting requirements/deadlines, and award documentation.
  • Tracks cultivation progress, solicitation and stewardship activities in Donor Perfects, working with the Constituency Coordinator.
  • Prepares reports, including progress and final reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Minimum 4 years of experience in grant writing. (Must have held a grant writer role)
  • Must reside in California.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in writing or nonprofit related program. 
  • Successful track record securing mid-range grant funding.   
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment that requires strong multitasking, organization and time management skills and a self-starter mentality.
  • Commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, and a results-oriented culture.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong research and data mining skills. 
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Familiarity with project management and donor tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems preferred 

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
