Grounds Maintenance/ Box Truck Driver
Status: Exempt Full-Time – Mid-Level
Job Location: Keenesburg, CO (East of Denver) NO Remote opportunities available, on-site/in-person work needed
Salary: Annual- Starting at $55,000 – 65,000 (DOE)
Benefits: After 60 Days Health, Dental, & Vision
Primary Function: Driver/Laborer/Construction/Grounds
Direct Supervisor: Executive Director

Job Summary:
Driving 20% Laborer 40% / Grounds 30%
Perform other Job Duties as assigned 10%
Execute all functions of The Wild Animal Sanctuary, including, the areas of safety, maintenance, grounds, custodial, operations, long-term facility care and construction projects. Seasonal duties are dependent on weather such as flooding, snow removal, and lawn care. Perform other related job duties as assigned.
With the guidance and under supervision of the Director of Operations and Fleet Manager, transport "box truck" to many pick up locations when needed, this is to provide coverage for the main driver positions. Deliver picked up items and unload while following all procedures. Unloading and loading at loading docks. Execute all functions of The Wild Animal Sanctuary, including, the areas of safety, maintenance, grounds, custodial, operations, long-term facility care and construction projects. Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 1-2 years of work experience in related field preferred
- Knowledgeable with heavy equipment and maintenance preferred but not required
- CDL is not required but a plus
- Strong work ethic and communication skills
- Able to bend lift and work out with in the elements
- Grounds maintenance is a plus
- Box Truck Driving Experience is a plus
Required/Other Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to liaise with other departments to achieve a common goal
- Flexible to working some evenings and weekends (Project Construction Events)
Functions/Job Duties: (including but not limited to):
- Maintenance and operations of The Wild Sanctuary grounds to include custodial, maintenance, facility operations and grounds
- Evaluates daily work orders and prioritizes as needed
- Driving, operating, pick up, and transporting deliveries as needed
- Communicates matters involving facilities, grounds, and transportation in a current and timely manner with the Director of Operations and Executive Director
- Exercising sound independent judgement within general policy guidelines
- Perform light excavation, using shovel, picks, and other equipment and tools to dig trenches and level ground
- Able to lift 75lbs or more, physical abilities needed to complete the job: lifting and carrying heavy materials such as; furniture, equipment, and tools. Some tasks involve; climbing, crawling, and stooping to reach. Need to be able to; pull, push or manipulate heavy objects against resistance, work outdoors in temperature extremes and inclement weather. This work is performed in outdoor, shop, and office settings.
- Remove snow in winter conditions and keep outdoor areas safe during bad weather, including spreading deicer on walkways and steps
