What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Sales Manager position at The Wildbirch Hotel?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet or exceed booking goals for the local corporate, incentive group markets and military/government.
- Initiate and follow up on leads.
- Coordination of group and transient bookings to maximize profits.
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Attend the weekly staff meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of required reports.
- Assist with coordination of all non-group transient sales and catering solicitations to maximize overall profits.
- Monitor production of all accounts and evaluate trends within the markets.
- Be familiar with all sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Banquet and Catering revenues.
- Conduct site inspection of the hotel with clients and FAMs.
- Assist in developing strategies to increase share from competitors.
- Meet and greet onsite contacts.
- Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
- Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events.
- Create plan that will be used during negative trends in the market place.
- Prospect new clients.
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
- Regularly contact existing accounts.
- Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
- Assist in implementing special promotions.
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
- Assist with social media marketing.
- Prepare presentations and proposals.
EXPERIENCE:

Prior Experience:
- 3 of employment in a related position with this company or other companies.

IT Expertise:
- Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.

Education:
- A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.

Subject Expertise:
- Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing, catering, Food & Beverage, and hospitality professions.
- This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities.
- Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
- Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
- Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
- Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
- Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
- Must be energetic and outgoing
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
- Must be able to type 45 wpm and have the ability to input data and access information on the computer
- Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Opera; preferred.
- Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS:
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Associate Handbook.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
- Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
- Hours Required: Must primarily work during business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
