Assistant Director of Admissions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (copy required upon hire)
  • Valid NYS Drivers License (copy required upon hire)
  • Yearly Physical (required within 1 month of hire)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental, and sexual identities. Must be willing to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Counseling or Social Work
  • Experience in residential treatment
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Must complete all required background checks :
  • NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR)
  • Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR)
  • NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting
  • NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL)
  • NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List
  • Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable)
  • NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS)
  • Office of Inspector General (OIG)
  • Must complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
  • HOURS

  • Monday through Friday 8 : 00 AM- 5 : 00 PM
  • Must be flexible to meet the needs of the program
  • SALARY

    55,000 - $65,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

    OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

    Review and screen referrals, conduct interviews with prospective residents, facilitate intakes, and provide support to the Director of Admissions. Provide secretarial and general office support to the Admissions Department.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General mastery of Admissions Department functions, as trained by the Director, to the point of capability of managing the office in the Director’s absence. This includes reading and researching referrals.
  • Familiarity with all programs, the school, and cottages (inc. personnel), sufficient to assign residents appropriately.
  • Maintain engaged and constructive working relationships with referral sources, department heads, cottage directors, managers, regional family workers, nursing and OASAS staff, school guidance counselor, and superintendent to prepare expeditious and appropriate treatment of new residents.
  • Register, process, and file new referrals. Process and enter general referral information into Agency Databases (i.e., Welligent, Filebound).
  • Interview candidates for admission. Travel to detention centers, OCFS facilities, and schools to conduct interviews. Aid in transport and orientation of new residents as required.
  • Help orient new residents to the program to facilitate a favorable introduction to placement at the Agency.
  • Prepare the face sheet, case file, and associated administrative paperwork immediately following admission.
  • In consultation with the Director, help develop a more comprehensive case file at the time of admission and during the overall evaluation period and, in general, enhance the provision of medical, clinical, substance abuse, and academic services.
  • Maintain census and prepare and distribute related reports.
  • Obtain admission applications and consent forms, ensuring they are correctly completed
  • Understand how to navigate IT systems, including Connections, Welligent, Portal, and Filebound.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
  • Be responsible for adhering to and performing all duties according to every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes but is not limited to, a review of The William George Agency’s Policy and attending all required safety-related training.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and the New York State Department of Social Services.

    The William George Agency for Children’s Services is located on a 650-acre campus nine miles northeast of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. It is a private, not-for-profit residential treatment center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) that serves both male and female youth between the ages of 12 and 21 and their families who present with significant mental health issues, behavioral difficulties, and substance abuse issues. Our programs offer an array of treatment modalities specifically designed to meet the needs of our youth.
