Description
Performs a variety of routine kitchen and dining room duties under the supervision of the Executive Chef.
Responsibility:
1. Sets up coffee break. Brews coffee and cleans up residents’ coffee break
2. Reviews menu and preps, as needed, soups, vegetables, salads, juices, desserts, etc. on established time schedule.
3. Stocks cabinets and drawers with paper supplies.
4. Attends to all food on steam table to ensure palatability and proper serving temperatures
5. Advises Cook of shortages as soon as possible
6. Delivers trays to ill residents as approved by the Apartment Manager, or Executive Chef.
7. Maintains and updates list of those special diets; advises Cook(s) of same. Also maintains lists of carry-to’s, trays, and those who are away.
8. Serves food according to diets, portion control procedures, sanitary regulations and facility guidelines.
9. Sets, clears, cleans and resets dining room tables.
10. Operates and cleans food service equipment. Loads, runs, and unloads dishwasher.
11. Vacuums dining room on weekends when housekeeper is off. Sweeps and mops kitchen areas, mop room (except for those areas done by Cook), cleans counters, etc.
12. Sends leftovers to C Building; disposes of other food waste in accordance with established policies.
13. Keep working areas clean, orderly and safe.
14. Attend various facility committee meetings as deemed necessary;
15. Performs other related duties as assigned
16. Make sure all Assisted Living and Carry-to residents have condiments on tables before lunch.
17. Delivers Assisted Living breakfast
18. Washes tablecloths and napkins, aprons, and dirty rags everyday.
19. Make sure everything is filled and ready for next day.
20. Clean dish room everyday
21. Call C building before 10:00 am for any inventory you may need.
22. Clean steamtable everyday.
23. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Helps with coverage in event of emergency; and ,
2. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
1. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English;
2. Strong interpersonal skills
3. Ability to recognize and report changes in residents
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, carrying objects (up to 50 lbs), overhead, lateral and low reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending and hand/arm/finger usage.
Occasional climbing, stepping downward and squatting. Infrequent sitting.
Environmental Conditions:
1. Works mainly in facility’s kitchen(s);
2. Occasional wet floor;
3. Is subject to frequent interruptions;
4. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and visitors;
5. Works beyond normal working hours when necessary;
6. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs and meetings;
7. Works on hard floor surfaces.
