What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Assistant (Laundry)-Part-Time position at The Williamsport Home?
Position Summary: Launders and/or supplies linens and clothing for residents’ care under the supervision of the Laundry Department Head.
6 AM- 2 PM, Every Tuesday, Thursday, every other Sunday and holiday.
Education and Experience and Skills Required:
1. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
2. Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
3. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
4. Ability to recognize and report problems with equipment and/or supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities – Laundry Aide
Essential Functions:
1. Loads, operates and unloads washers and dryers.
2. Pushes hampers collected to laundry department.
3. Separates dirty sheets into their respective hampers for linen supplier pickup.
4. Sorts, washes, identifies, folds or hangs residents’ clothing and facility provided items.
5. Transports items, using various carts, throughout facility, and hangs or places items in closets or drawers.
6. Restocks clean linen supplies as directed.
7. Keeps working areas clean, orderly and safe.
8. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
9. Unloads hampers from linen suppliers to shelves as needed.
10. Collects laundry bags as directed.
11. Orders, adjusts, maintains and records linen needs from supplier as directed.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Dust mops and wet mops floor, removes lint from dryers, and cleans work surfaces in the laundry department.
2. Marks and/or label linens and clothing.
3. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
4. For aide scheduled part-time in laundry and housekeeping, performs duties of laundry aide or cleans and organizes night stands, dresser drawers and closets as assigned; otherwise, performs housekeeping duties as directed by the Head Housekeeper.
5. Launders other items as necessary or as directed.
6. Mends as needed or as directed.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, carrying, reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, handling (hand, arm, and finger use), bending and twisting. Occasional climbing and stepping downward. Rare to infrequent squatting, pushing/pulling from 95-300 pounds, approximate wheeled weight. Carry 10 pounds.
Environmental Conditions:
1. Occasional wet floors, dust, fumes and noise.
2. Body fluid exposure – universal precautions.
3. Working on hard floors.
