Description
PURPOSE:
To provide support for The Williamsport Home by monitoring the facility to keep staff and residents safe. This position will also help in screening all employees/visitors upon entry into the facility. Receives and directs visitors/vendors to areas of The Williamsport Home.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; inspecting buildings and access points-permitting entry
- Makes random rounds throughout the campus
- Maintains logs of date/time of rounds
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities
- Participates in development of safety policies and procedures
- Screens all employees and visitors upon entry into the building
- Directs visitors/vendors to appropriate staff
- Responsible for complete confidentiality in all aspects of the position
- Receives medication deliveries for Assistance in Living residents
- Receives items from visitors to be given to resident from their family/friends
- Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring resident safety.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent hand, arm and finger use. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. Able to move about throughout facilities easily during all hours of the day.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works with frequent interruptions throughout shift
- Must be able to walk extensively
- Works in all areas of the campus
- May be subject to smoke/fire alarms
- May be subject to distraught residents/family members/visitors
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Stooping/bending required during normal workday activities
- May be exposed to disruptive behavior
- Hard surface floors
- Occasional dust, fumes and noise
Body fluid exposure – universal precautions
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate or GED equivalency preferred.
- Experience in a health-related facility preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must successfully complete the required criminal background check and health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility
