The Williston Northampton School, an independent co-educational boarding and day school in Easthampton, Massachusetts, is a culturally diverse educational community serving students in grades 7-12. We are seeking to fill the position of Director of Academic Support (DAS) within the Academic Dean’s office for the 25-26 academic year. Under the direction of the Academic Dean, the DAS is responsible for overseeing the Center for Academic Success. This includes coordinating and facilitating all academic support functions for students who have documented learning differences as well as those who may be in a transitional diagnostic phase. The DAS oversees all the office’s programs including the Academic Strategies Tutorial (AST) class and Laboratory for Academic Success (LAS) evening study hall program and staff including the other members of the Center for Academic Success and outside tutors hired by the program.
Duties of the position will include, but are not limited to: assume professional responsibility for the identification and communication of individual students’ academic support needs; coordinate a comprehensive program that offers academic options for students; track data on applicable students to assure appropriate communication and record-keeping in the school’s student database with regard to registered accommodations; report, track and assess the effectiveness of the academic support programs; provide professional development for faculty regarding learning differences (coordinated with the Dean of Faculty); collaborate with the Admission Office as necessary regarding prospective students with diagnosed learning differences or disabilities; read admissions applications that indicate a need for learning support and provide analysis regarding whether the school can serve the prospective student’s needs.
