POSITION TITLE: Dining Specialist
SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Dining Experience
STATUS: Hourly / Non-exempt
SUMMARY
The Dining Specialist provides full-scope, hands on serving functions in the community Culinary department. Responsible in providing superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

- Exemplify at all times community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and organization.
- Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times.
- Exhibit dining room appearance and presentation standards at all times.
- Exhibit serving standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Set tables and maintain work stations in proper order. Take order, provide service and requested items both graciously and courteously. Answer pertinent questions about menu items.
- Clear dishes from tables during and after meal service, assist with dish washing, and reset tables.
- Serve customers using proper serving etiquette and promote an inviting dining atmosphere.
- Knowledge of diets provided and served correctly per policy and procedure.
- Represent community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.
- Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual team member engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy.

- Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality, complies with attendance policy.
- Assume accountability for data contained in the team member handbook.
- Assumes accountability for compliance with Federal, State, and other regulations within scope of control and of which informed.
- Observe infection control procedures.
- Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.
- Observe all community policies and procedures.
- Accept assigned duties, instructions or correction in a cooperative manner, voicing concerns or disagreement in a professional manner through established chain of authority according to state procedures. Perform incidental housekeeping and maintenance tasks as may arise during the course of regular duties, in order to maintain a clean, safe, pleasant environment for residents, visitors and team members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school education or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience in food service work and working with seniors preferred.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to make moderately complex mathematical calculations.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to follow approved, standardized recipes and menus for regular and therapeutic diets.
Oral/Written
Communication Skills
Ability to routinely process written information as in policies and procedures, posted notices, instruction materials. Complete forms and other written documentation. Observe resident actions, gestures, facial expressions.
Equipment Used:
Standard food production equipment for quantity food
preparation.
Personal computer
Physical Effort:
Must be mobile. Must be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks.
Personal Characteristics:
Possesses good character and displays high degree of personal integrity. Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.
Working Conditions:
Well-lighted, air-conditioned health care environment. Ability to withstand extremes of heat and cold; ability to withstand odors from food preparation.
