Location: Cleveland, OH (Local Applicants Only)
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract
Compensation: 30k Base Salary UNCAPPED Commission

Cleveland-ish is a fast-growing local media brand that showcases the best events, restaurants, and businesses in Cleveland. Our goal is to connect businesses with an engaged local audience through innovative advertising solutions. As we scale, we’re looking for a driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to find, pitch, and close new advertising partners.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a high-energy, results-driven Business Development Representative to prospect, cold call, and visit local businesses, turning them into advertising customers for Cleveland-ish. The ideal candidate has a strong sales mindset, thrives in an outbound role, and is passionate about helping local businesses grow through effective digital advertising.

Key Responsibilities: Prospecting & Sales Outreach

  • Identify and research potential advertising clients, including restaurants, bars, event venues, real estate agencies, and local service providers.
  • Cold call, email, and visit businesses in person to pitch Cleveland-ish’s advertising opportunities.
  • Book meetings and presentations with key decision-makers.
  • Follow up consistently to close deals and build long-term relationships.

Advertising Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Sell advertising packages, including sponsored articles, newsletter placements, display ads, and social media promotions.
  • Educate potential clients on the value of reaching Cleveland-ish’s highly engaged audience.
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts to secure profitable partnerships.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of leads and consistently hit or exceed sales targets.

Account Management & Retention

  • Provide exceptional service to new advertising clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Offer creative ideas for ad placements, promotions, and brand collaborations.
  • Track campaign performance and communicate results to clients.
  • Work with the content and marketing team to optimize ad campaigns for success.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Sales, preferably in media, advertising, or local marketing.
  • Proven success in cold calling, prospecting, and closing deals.
  • Strong understanding of local business marketing needs and digital advertising.
  • Excellent communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, competitive, and results-driven.
  • Comfortable working independently and in the field (visiting businesses in person).
  • Knowledge of Cleveland’s local business landscape is a major plus.
