Communications Manager
Organization : The Window, Inc.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Supervisor : Executive Director
The Communications Manager is responsible for all administrative aspects of development and communication activities. The Communications Manager plays an important role by providing administrative support to and participating in all fundraising activities including donor relations, marketing and communications, direct mail appeals, and special events.
JOB DUTIES
Manage donor management system including : consistent and accurate data entry, gift reporting, donor acknowledgment, fundraising reports, troubleshooting database issues
Assist in scheduling and attending meetings with prospective / current supporters
Complete deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters and emails, and other tasks needed to assist in effectively leading all fundraising efforts.
Assist in creating reports that show fundraising progress and effectiveness of current and past campaigns
Perform basic administrative duties such as filing, data entry, maintaining a filing system and more.
Assist and help manage major events; donation and sponsorship procurement, coordinating vendors, volunteers, event details, and project coordination
Lead and create all content for communications materials
Manage all social media accounts, developing new content, engaging with our community, creating graphics, and editing basic videos
Write attractive and engaging emails (fundraising and engagement), website copy, press releases, statements, and marketing collateral
Use software like Canva to create graphics for social media, print materials, and presentations
Manage website and lead improvements
Assist with annual mailings to individual and institutional donors
Assist with grant applications and reports as well as prospecting for new funding sources
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into accessible and engaging content
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to exercise high degree of professionalism when responding to inquiries and feedback from supporters and community
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines; excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to problem-solve and use analytical skills to develop and implement creative solutions
Ability to follow through and see a project to the end (where possible)
Willingness to learn new strategies and software, and take on new challenges
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum of two to three years of experience in a communications, marketing, publicity, or related role at a nonprofit
Proficient in social media posting and analytics (Facebook, Instagram, , Twitter, YouTube); familiarity with additional social media platforms and / or social media management tools (Buffer, HootSuite, HeyOrca, &c.) is a plus
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, GoogleSuite, SquareSpace, WordPress, and Canva
