Pre-Professional Librarian or Library Assistant

The Winsor School is an independent day school for academically promising and motivated girls in grades five through twelve. The School seeks a part-time pre-professional librarian (i.e., someone who plans to earn their Master’s in Library Science) or library assistant. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and dependability, as well as have strong multi-tasking and self-starter skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a bustling library environment. Experience working with 5th-12th graders, experience in libraries, or interest in librarianship as a career is highly desirable.
This is a 10-month position for 19 hours per week. It will begin in late August 2025.

This position’s duties include:

operating the circulation desk,
-
supervising students in the library and enforcing library policies, as well as providing library coverage when the librarians are not on site,

processing new books and repairing book damages,
-
creating visually appealing library bulletin boards and book displays,
-
collection maintenance, including weeding out-of-date library materials, inventory, and shelving books,
-
managing the library’s social media,
-
performing other library-related duties as assigned by the director.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree,

demonstrated commitment to community and inclusion work,

computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching, as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
