Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty : Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 07 : 00-19 : 00

Guaranteed Hours :

Experience : Minimum 1 year required

License :

Certifications : BLS, PALS

Must-Have :

Basic Life Support (BLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Job Description :

Work in a PICU environment with 14 to 22 beds, staff levels dependent on acuity and census.

Day shift includes charge nurse or clinical nurse coordinator (CNC) with 4-6 nurses and a unit secretary; preference for CNC-free.

Night shift similar staffing, with preference for CNC-free.

Patient ratios are med-surg 4 : 1.

Use Meditech electronic medical records system.

Perform typical procedures such as cleft palate repair, appendectomies, chest tube management, lumbar punctures, and seizure management.

Provide noninvasive cardiology services; no neurosurgery or stroke care; no foreign body airway removal.

Manage neuro, ortho, general surgery, and thoracic cases such as thoracotomy / thoracoscopy and pectus bar implants.

Seek team players with a supportive and collaborative approach.

Floating to NICU Level 1 or 2 is required when necessary.

Dress code is royal blue scrubs.

Required to work 4 weekend days every 4 weeks.

A full team environment where everyone helps one another is emphasized.

Note : Attach unit policies and guidelines as necessary.
