Reports To : Cottage Shop Manager

Salary : 20.00 / HR

Pay Schedule : Semi-monthly

Description : The Women's Home is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Assistant Manager of The Cottage Shop. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our charming thrift store, which serves as both a vital funding source and a platform to promote the mission of empowering women in need. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the shop's success in generating revenue to support our programs and services while also assisting with vocational development for clients through on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Greet and assist customers warmly, providing a positive and enjoyable shopping experience. Address customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Assist the Store Manager in managing all aspects of the shop, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and maintaining a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to lead and motivate a team of volunteers and support staff. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure a cohesive and enthusiastic workforce.
  • Play an active role in the vocational development of our clients by providing on-the-job training and guidance. Encourage skill development and empowerment as clients engage in shop-related tasks.
  • Actively engage in sales activities, promoting shop items and driving revenue growth. Analyze sales data to identify trends and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Work with the Store Manager to develop and maintain relationships with donors, local businesses, and community partners to enhance the shop's visibility and donation base.
  • Assist in managing the shop's financial records, including daily sales reporting, cash handling, and banking procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, safety guidelines, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate records related to sales, inventory, and volunteer hours.
  • Support fundraising initiatives and events to promote The Women's Home's mission and raise awareness about the shop's role in supporting women in need.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in retail management, thrift store operations, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor others effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with diverse stakeholders, including customers, volunteers, and donors.
  • Results-driven mindset with a track record of achieving sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Experience in providing vocational development and on-the-job training is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale systems.
  • Passion for supporting the mission of The Women's Home and empowering women facing challenges such as homelessness, addiction, or mental health issues.
