Optometric Technician Responsibilities
Perform work-up of patients with eye-care equipment and technology
Gather information about a patient’s vision history
Assess eyeglass desires and purchasing plans
Instruct contact lens insertion, removal, care, and replacement
Insurance authorization and submissions
General front desk tasks including taking phone calls and scheduling appointments
Skills & Qualifications
PREFERRED SKILLS FOR OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN
The ability to work well with technology and various instruments
Extremely efficient, organized and resourceful.
Strong customer service and the ability to be a calming presence when patients may be nervous.
Must be computer literate w/ a strong typing speed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN
Required:
High School diploma
Prior experience as an Optometric Technician or in the eye care industry is preferred but not necessary.
Familiar with Electronic Health Records
