Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor or a Foreman perform skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of streetscapes or community grounds, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sacs, lakes, and ponds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Approximately 75 – 80 % of this role functions as the lead installer for the community banner projects. When banner projects are not in progress the Senior Technician will be involved in tasks mentioned below.
- Installation and removal of light pole banners via bucket truck operation. Light pole banners are generally 40 feet off the ground along roadways.
When banner projects are not in progress, the Senior Technician will be involved in the following tasks:
- Perform tasks related to landscape maintenance such as baseball infield maintenance; landscape plantings; mulch, hardscape, and sod prep and installation.
- Perform trash, debris, and dumping cleanup in either park or reserve areas per requests submitted by residents.
- Apply nutritional products to grounds and landscape for enhancement and longevity.
- General knowledge of general facilities and maintenance principles, practices, and methods.
- Able to determine proper maintenance and construction techniques to fit the task at hand.
- Able to talk to contractor and vendors to receive proper service and products for job duties.
- Determine types of materials needed to use in the field as appropriate and calculate volume of a material needed on a project, such as concrete, lumber, soil, or playground fall surfacing.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as handheld equipment, mowers, scissor lifts, UTV’s, trucks and keep these in safe and good working order.
- Report weekly the status of repairs and projects and respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Assist with construction of capital improvement projects using technical skills of construction as it pertains to park, pathway, and sign improvements.
- Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs to community facilities, grounds, and amenities.
- Concrete work through placement, finishing, modifying, construction parks & recreation related facilities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, pavilions, fishing docks, bridges, and pathways.
- Participate in emergency response teams.
- Employee may be required to work special events on nights, weekends, or holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Bucket Truck has a weight restriction of 350 lbs. including equipment and tools.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
Disagreeable: Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental condition and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk and frequent physical effort is required. The employee would frequently be exposed to heights of over 30 feet tall in unstable conditions.
Hazards: Banner Operation work being performed on roadsides while being followed by a Shadow Truck for safety.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Safety-Sensitive: This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of: Painting techniques. Construction techniques that pertain to parks amenities; Knowledge of the proper and safe use of both arc and gas welding equipment; Broad knowledge of carpentry including proper measuring, cutting, and joining, the operation of all power tools including radial saws, routers, belt sanders and drills. Skills are to include not only rough framing, but more refined carpentry. Advanced knowledge to concrete, minor carpentry work, and landscape installation and maintenance are a plus.
Skills in: Previous high lift/bucket truck experience would be preferred.
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience: Two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a Texas driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
- Texas Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
Requirements:
- Comfortable working at heights over 30 feet in bucket truck.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edgers, UTV and mechanical blower, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools.
- Participate in emergency response teams.
- Safety sensitive position subject to the Random Drug Screen Policy at any time.
