Part-time position, working 20 hours per week (5 hours per day, 4 days per week)
Night Shift Schedule Examples: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm; 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm; 7:00 pm to 12:00 am; 8:00 pm to 1:00 am; 11:00 pm to 4:00 am
Hours worked between 12 midnight and 6:00 am will be paid a shift differential of .75 cents per hour.
Schedule rotates monthly.
Summary of Duties: Assist visitors of The Woodlands Town Center, Waterway Square, and Town Green Park, by providing information, direction and support that will enrich their recreational experience and provide a pleasant, safe environment that promotes community harmony and the benefits of parks and recreation. Inspects the Woodlands Waterway, parks, restrooms, lighting equipment and pathways to evaluate physical conditions, promote park, recreation, and safety programs, and ensure compliance of park rules.
Follow the guidelines of the Town Center Ranger program.
Essential Employee Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects properties such as parks, restrooms, lighting equipment, signs, benches, landscapes, irrigation systems, public art (art benches, monuments, etc.), fountains, and pathways.
- Perform minor repair work on play structures, lighting equipment, irrigation systems, bridges, remove graffiti, etc.
- Evaluates safety practices and hazardous situations; anticipates and resolves problems on a daily basis and submits work requests.
- Promotes park, recreation, and safety programs, and ensures compliance of park rules and Township Orders.
- Support appropriate park activities, programs, special events, and recreation through enforcement of parks rules and Township orders & policies, procedures and covenants in a positive way.
- Maintain frequent, direct, positive, friendly, and personal contact, and provides information that promotes the benefits of parks and recreation.
- Confer with residents to induce compliance with Township ordinances, safety standards, codes, and regulations.
- Perform duties in support of creating a pleasant, safe environment that promotes community harmony.
- Perform custodial duties & minor maintenance work on parks, pathways, trash cans, litter, tree pruning, etc.
- Perform clean-up at facilities and perform set-up and tear-down at events and programs including trash and litter collection.
- Prepare various reports including vandalism, maintenance, and park and pathway needs and keep a daily log. Responsible for documenting all vandalism through incident reports and pictures on Township phones.
- Assist with Boathouse customer service issues and other operations as assigned.
- Walk through the parks to observe park operations, maintenance, and residents utilizing the parks.
- Maintain GEM vehicle.
- Wear the prescribed uniform.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for up to 5 hours per shift; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions in all times of year. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Majority of the work performed by a Town Center Ranger is outside in all types of weather conditions.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: High school diploma.
Experience: One (1) year of experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a Texas driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
- Successful completion of 20 hours of training prescribed by the Town Ranger Program required.
Computer Skills: MS Office computer skills and familiarity with smart phone technology are desirable.
Pre-employment Requirements: Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.
