Gain experience in a premier art museum, featuring a significant permanent collection and world-class special exhibitions. The High Museum of Art's (HMA) internship program is offered for eight weeks each summer to rising college juniors and seniors as well as to graduate students. This is a paid internship. Interns also receive many benefits, which include free admission to Museum functions, discounts at our caf and gift shops, and the ability to observe and receive instruction that enhances their knowledge of the area in which they are assigned. Candidates accepted into the program are responsible for securing their own housing and transportation (including parking, which they will receive at a discounted employee rate) for the duration of the program.

The High offers you the opportunity to gain experience in fields where experience is critical. We strive to give our interns projects that are meaningful and educational. In addition to contributing to important tasks in the departments to which interns are assigned, once a week, interns will participate in a series of professional development workshops in various departments and learn daily operational functions.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS PHOTOGRAPHY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work with the High Museum of Art's digital, marketing, and creative services teams to capture images and videos for high-profile advertising and marketing materials. Interns will contribute to one of the city's most prominent cultural organizations while building their portfolios and developing skills in photography and videography.

Growth opportunities include learning to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work with others to brainstorm creative executions for social media, web, and other marketing materials. Additionally, the intern will gain experience shooting works on paper and archival material and develop videography skills with the High's on-staff videographer.

  • Project Management : Learn to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Creative Collaboration : Gain experience brainstorming and executing creative ideas for marketing materials across social media, web platforms, and other channels.
  • Technical Expertise :
  • Enhance skills in photographing works on paper, archival materials, and artworks.

  • Develop videography skills under the mentorship of the HMA's on-staff videographer.
  • Portfolio Development : Build a professional portfolio showcasing high-profile projects for a prominent cultural organization.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent project organization skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and maintain attention to detail.
  • Photography background (must provide strong portfolio)
  • Sufficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (recommended)

  • Monday, June 9, 2025 - Friday, August 1, 2025
  • Hours per week : can add range if necessary and remove highlights before posting
  • Hours / days may vary according to internship position, as specified by Supervisor.
