COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

To help us towards becoming the most impactful advocacy agency in the US, we are looking to hire a Communications Associate who would be a critical component of our external facing support team responsible for taking initiative on key client services. The Communications Associate is a critical component of The Worker Agency’s (TWA) client-facing support team. The role acts as support staff to the various team members to win campaigns on behalf of clients committed to changing people’s lives for the better. The role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of firms objectives and scope of services on behalf of a client.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Support basic execution of campaigns for various clients including administrative
- Provide support for client facing efforts, including maintaining tasklists, and assisting with content creation for TWA clients
- Maintain press lists (Airtable) and track and compile daily media clips
- Draft media relations materials, including press releases, media advisories, op-eds, pitch materials, media briefings, and talking points
- Help plan and manage press and press-related events, including calls, conferences, and briefings
- Help with pitching stories and responding to press inquiries
- Help identify opportunities—and develop materials in coordination with other relevant staffers—to promote and publicize organizational initiatives, activities,, and content including by monitoring the news cycle and identifying relevant stories or trends that align with our client’s work
- Maintain client communications calendars, libraries, and directories
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Schedule meetings and support with agenda and note taking to optimize client services.
- Organize team events, lunches, and other office administrative duties as assigned
- Attend team meetings, retreats and other company activities.
- Work in office Monday through Thursday (Berkeley, CA)
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-3 years previous experience in a development, sales, communication and/or public relations capacity
- Excellent writing skills and adept at drafting short and long-form copy
- Experience with Google Drive, Canva, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills required, including public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task and make sound decisions quickly and accurately.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders.
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
