Summary :
Workforce Group (WFG) is seeking an experienced Construction Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support disaster recovery and rebuilding efforts. This role focuses on conducting substantial damage assessments, evaluating structural conditions, and estimating reconstruction costs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The SME will also provide expert insight into construction practices, material costs, and feasibility assessments for damaged properties. Occasional cost reviews may be required, but the primary focus is on comprehensive damage evaluations.
Location : Florida
Responsibilities :
- Conduct substantial damage assessments to determine the extent of structural damage and necessary repairs.
- Develop detailed damage reports outlining repair or replacement recommendations.
- Estimate reconstruction costs, including labor, materials, and compliance with FEMA, HUD, and Florida Building Code regulations.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and local officials to ensure proper structural evaluations and mitigation planning.
- Review contractor estimates and assist in cost verification when needed.
- Advise stakeholders on construction best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the development of scope of work documentation for rebuilding projects.
- Support disaster recovery teams by providing expert analysis on construction feasibility and structural integrity.
- Conduct site visits to assess real-time conditions and document damage through photos, reports, and cost assessments.
- Provide technical guidance on building code requirements and mitigation strategies to reduce future disaster risks.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications : 2 years of experience in construction management, estimating, or structural assessments, preferably in disaster recovery or emergency response. Strong knowledge of FEMA Substantial Damage Estimation (SDE) protocols, Florida Building Code, and general construction standards.
