Summary:
Workforce Group (WFG) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Program/Peer Support Specialist to join our community-based multidisciplinary team. This role involves providing direct support to formerly homeless individuals, helping them integrate into their new community by developing life skills, accessing resources, and fostering social engagement. The ideal candidate has lived experience with homelessness, mental health services, or addiction and is dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey toward stability and well-being.
Location: Southeastern Louisiana, including but not limited to (Slidell, New Orleans, and Lafayette areas)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet with program participants in their homes alongside a team member to provide guidance, encouragement, and essential life skills training.
- Assist individuals with bill management, appointment-keeping, and independent living skills.
- Support participants in engaging in community activities, fostering social connections, and enhancing overall well-being.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social services, and community events as needed.
- Provide emotional support and advocacy to help individuals feel empowered in their recovery and housing stability.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, social workers, and medical professionals.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service coordination.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, progress, and referrals in compliance with program guidelines.
- Demonstrate understanding of homeless services, behavioral health support, and recovery-oriented care.
- Provide guidance on accessing mainstream benefits and community resources.
- Assist with treatment planning, goal setting, and referrals for additional support services.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in homeless services, behavioral health, or peer support.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is preferred (NCPS or Louisiana State Certification preferred)
- Lived experience with homelessness, mental health services, or addiction strongly preferred.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Familiarity with community agencies, resources, and referral processes.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout Southeastern Louisiana as needed for service coordination and home visits.

Salary : $25 - $30
