IVM Chemicals seeks an experienced Territory Sales Manager to join the team in the Chicago, Illinois area. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, expanding relationships with distributors and direct customers, and supporting technical sales efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coatings sales (wood coatings preferred) or a related technical sales role. This position requires a self-motivated individual with excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams. The role offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Responsibilities : The candidate must :
Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue within the assigned territory
Identify and engage distributors, OEMs, and direct customers, ensuring alignment with company
objectives
Conduct customer visits to assess needs, present solutions, and promote IVM’s wood coatings
Work closely with Technical Account Representatives to enhance customer service and problem resolution
Gather market intelligence on competitors, pricing, and customer needs to support strategic decision-making
Address and resolve customer claims, working to ensure technical and commercial satisfaction
Monitor and manage customer payment compliance, collaborating with Accounting to support collections
Represent IVM Chemicals at industry fairs, trade shows, and exhibitions
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical and commercial updates through company literature and internal communications
Effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision
Display a positive, helpful attitude to help create a friendly environment for clients and co-workers
Requirements
Requirements : The candidate will :
Have 3 or more years of experience in coatings sales, ideally in the wood coatings or industrial coatings industry
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in business, chemistry, engineering, or a related field, or comparable work experience
Have the ability to travel up to 75% of the time, or as required to visit customers and support sales initiatives
Possess outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex
assignments without direct supervision
Demonstrate sound business judgment, strong decision-making, and superior written and verbal communication skills
Have excellent time management skills with a personal accountability mindset
Thrive in a team environment and be a positive team player
Have technology and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
