Position Overview: Our client seeks a talented and forward-thinking Data Scientist to drive strategic decisions with data regarding business expansions, operational efficiencies and educational outcomes. The Data Scientist will lead initiatives such as:
- Implementing a scalable database solution (e.g., BigQuery) to replace Google Sheets.
- Fixing variability in metric measurement to ensure accurate and consistent comparisons.
- Streamlining organizational access to data via reorganized reports and a key metrics dashboard.
- Establishing consistent metrics for assessing potential expansion locations.
- Collaborating with academic partners to align data collection with peer-reviewed impact studies.
- Developing a real-time visual metrics dashboard.
- Streamlining school-level data collection and reporting.
- Building a robust regression framework for analyzing and comparing expansion opportunities.
- Advancing multi-year impact studies with external academic partners
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Insights: Identify trends and patterns in student performance, attendance, and other educational metrics.
- Predictive & Interpretive Modeling: Develop models to understand trends in school performance and student outcomes through statistical analysis and machine learning (as applicable).
- Data Visualization: Create clear and impactful visual representations to communicate findings to various stakeholders.
- Strategic Collaboration: Provide quantitative support and market insights across departments, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
- Performance Evaluation: Measure the success of initiatives by forecasting and monitoring key metrics.
- Data Management: Implement systems to enhance data quality and statistical efficiency.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and external academic collaborators to integrate insights into organizational strategies.
- Technical Expertise: Use tools like Python, R, SQL, and others for data analysis and model development.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational enhancements through robust data insights.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports and dashboards for leadership.
Preferred Background and Qualifications:
· Minimum of a bachelor's degree
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data scientist role
· Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical methods and programming languages like Python, R, and SQL.
· Experience in educational metrics, data analysis for policy evaluation, and operational improvement.
· Familiarity with econometric methods and statistical studies of demographic/economic data.
· Ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences effectively.
· Experience collaborating with academic researchers to meet rigorous study requirements.
· Emphasis on creating interpretable, actionable models over purely predictive ones.
