External and Corporate Relations Vice-Presidency (ECR)
The mission of External and Corporate Relations (ECR) is to help deliver financial and political support for the World Bank Group, strengthen the Bank Group’s role as a global thought leader in development by enhancing and safeguarding its reputation, and support operational teams to achieve country outcomes. ECR manages corporate communications and global engagement with key stakeholders, including media, civil society, foundations, the private sector, donor countries, and international organizations, as well as employee engagement. ECR also manages strategic communications for the World Bank’s Regions and Global Practices and leads the management of reputation risk.
Department Context
The ECR Brand and Digital (ECRBD) department manages the World Bank’s external corporate presence and reputation through its digital platforms and channels provides brand oversight and drives creative content development, including producing recorded and livestreamed programming for our own and external channels in support of the Bank’s top priorities; and provides metrics, insights and impact analysis of our communications work.

Responsibilities
This position supports strategic outreach, engagement and advocacy efforts across the World Bank’s social media channels to promote key institutional priorities
Campaigns and content
- Develop and produce high-quality multimedia content, including videos and graphic posts. Ensure content is engaging, visually appealing, and tailored to specific audiences and platforms, specifically YouTube and Instagram.
- Engage with the audience through daily posts, fostering community interaction and boosting views and subscriptions. Collaborate with World Bank Group teams and units to tailor content to specific audiences and platforms, ensuring alignment with overall communication strategies.
- Optimize videos for search engines to enhance visibility on YouTube and Google, ensuring content reaches a broader audience.
- Coordinate production and deadlines with multilingual, regional and vertical and other WB social media teams as needed.
- Identify and execute campaigns that invite our audiences to interact and engage with the World Bank (e.g. “user-generated content” campaigns, polls, questions, and expressions of support); coordinate with different units on the development and roll out of these campaigns, including translating concepts and content into local languages
- Support the production of social media content for senior leaders as needed.
- Assist the External Affairs Officer in managing and nurturing relationships with key influencers to enhance WBG's outreach efforts.
- Help manage weekly and monthly editorial calendars and workflows, coordaining with other units in the timing and positioning of content across social media channels.
- Proactively monitor select World Bank channels for reputational risk issues.
- Contribute to monitoring reports as needed, as well as support for colleagues designing response and mitigation efforts.
- Help establish key performance indicators and objectives for social channels under his/her purview; review and use metrics reports to improve results and change tactics as needed.
- Produce regular reporting on the impact of key channels and campaigns.
- Multimedia Content Creation: Ability to make short videos and produce graphics for social media, experience with Canva, Adobe platform tools, and other video and graphic editing platforms.
- Research, writing, and editing skills: Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills with strong editorial judgment. Experience writing content for diverse social media platforms and audiences; understanding multilingual audiences on different social media platforms is a plus.
- Social Media Expertise: Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with social media platforms (especially Facebook, YouTube, Instagram) and demonstrated ability to apply creative ideas for how to engage/interact with them.
- SEO and Analytics: Understanding of SEO techniques and social media metrics. Proficient in using measurement tools to gauge impact and results.
- Strong judgment and knowledge of international development, political economies, and related risks.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Communication in International Development - Understanding international development issues and the communication needs of key stakeholders, such as bilateral donors, the private sector, foundations, NGOs, and academic institutions.
- Online Content Editing and Drafting - Ability to draft and edit simple online communications products and develop drafts of moderately complex online communications products with minimal supervision.
- Online Production Tools - Proficiency with graphic design principles, industry-standard applications, and web technologies; strong ability to encode, package, embed, and web-optimize digital multimedia assets.
- Online Communication Strategy, Planning, and Execution - Practical experience in a full range of online communications approaches, tools, and methodologies; can develop drafts of online communication plans and strategies.
