Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and are committed to helping others on their recovery journey. The Certified Peer Specialist will provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals seeking to improve their mental well-being and navigate the complexities of behavioral health systems.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one and group support to participants, utilizing personal experiences to foster hope and recovery.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills through motivational interviewing techniques.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on peer support, crisis management, and behavioral health education.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Offer crisis intervention services as necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
- Mentor clients in navigating social services and community resources related to mental health and addiction counseling.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients' needs within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and community organizations.
Requirements
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or equivalent experience in peer support roles.
- Strong understanding of crisis management techniques and behavioral health principles.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing and mentoring practices.
- Experience in mental health counseling or addiction counseling is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of local resources and systems related to mental health and addiction services.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $15.97 - $26.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
