JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing BI team under the guidance of the Director of Business Intelligence. You will play a key role in turning raw data into actionable insights by creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions that support decision-making across multiple departments. In addition to Power BI, you will have the opportunity to explore and help implement open-source BI tools (e.g., Metabase) and leverage Python and SQL for data exploration and light forecasting tasks.
WHAT ARE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Gather, understand, and translate business requirements into effective data visualizations and reports.
- Create and maintain Power BI dashboards, ensuring they are accurate, user-friendly, and insightful.
- Collaborate with the BI team to explore open-source tools (e.g., Metabase) for additional reporting and visualization needs.
Forecasting & Analytics
- Assist in developing basic forecasting models (e.g., time-series, regression) to support demand planning, resource allocation, or other data-driven initiatives.
- Utilize Python and SQL for data cleaning, analysis, and ad hoc queries to derive insights and trends.
- Contribute to integrating predictive analytics outputs into dashboards, working closely with data scientists and the Director of BI.
Data Quality & Governance
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across various data sources.
- Follow established data governance policies, collaborating with the Director of BI and Data Engineering to resolve data quality issues.
- Document data definitions, transformations, and best practices to maintain transparency and reproducibility.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with stakeholders from Finance, Operations, Product, and other teams to understand business needs and provide analytical support.
- Communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences clearly and concisely.
- Work with Data Engineering and DevOps teams to optimize data pipelines and dashboards for performance and reliability.
Continuous Improvement & Learning
- Stay updated on BI best practices, new technologies, and open-source trends (e.g., Superset, Redash, Grafana) to propose potential enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions within the BI team.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency using Python scripts or other tools.
WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a BI Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.
- Open-Source BI: Exposure to or interest in Metabase, Superset, Redash, or similar platforms.
- Forecast Modeling: Basic understanding of time-series or regression forecasting methods.
- Healthcare Experience: Familiarity with HIPAA or regulated data environments.
- Additional Tools: Experience with git, version control, or data orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, etc.).
ATTRIBUTES NEEDED FOR THE ROLE
- Proficiency in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, Dashboard creation).
- Solid SQL skills for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience with Python for basic scripting, data manipulation, or forecasting tasks.
- Familiarity with data visualization principles and storytelling with data.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to translate business questions into data requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of problem-solving, critical thinking, and curiosity-driven exploration.
