JOB SUMMARY
The Compliance Manager assists the Compliance & Privacy Officer with oversight and direction of the Compliance and Privacy Program.
The Compliance and Privacy Manager is responsible for assisting the Compliance and Privacy Officer in identifying and assessing areas of compliance and privacy risk for The Wound Pros; setting forth the ethical principles and policies that are the basis of the Compliance and Privacy Program; developing and implementing education programs addressing compliance, privacy, and the Code of Conduct; implementing a retaliation-free internal reporting process, including an anonymous reporting system; and collaborating with management to effectively incorporate the Compliance and Privacy Program within system operations and programs and to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
WHAT ARE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
- Oversee, coordinate, and monitor the day-to-day compliance and privacy activities of the business unit.
- Assess, develop, and implement appropriate compliance and privacy training and education programs for all employees.
- Develop, coordinate, and/or oversee internal and external audit procedures for the purpose of monitoring and detecting any misconduct or noncompliance. If any misconduct or noncompliance is detected, recommend a solution and follow up to ensure the recommendations have been implemented.
- Prepare and manage dashboards, reports, and tracking tools to identify compliance risks, implement corrective actions, and enhance procedures.
- Operationalize and maintain the Company’s policy library and policy development workflows.
- Formalize and monitor a system to enable employees to report any noncompliance without fear of retribution, ensuring that the reporting system is adequately publicized and that allegations of noncompliance are investigated and responded to promptly.
- In consultation with key stakeholders, help ensure there is a mechanism in place for disciplining instances of noncompliance (including the failure to prevent, detect, or report any noncompliance), appropriate to the nature and extent of the deviation, and ensure consistency in the application of disciplinary action.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure a workforce with high ethical standards, including the establishment of minimum standards for conducting appropriate background and reference checks on potential employees.
- Report to the Compliance Committee at its regular meetings, or as otherwise necessary, on any significant compliance issues to ensure appropriate discussion of such compliance issues and to ensure that appropriate action is taken.
- Carry out all additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED
- 3 - 5 years of compliance, privacy, or regulatory experience in healthcare is required
- Bachelor's degree required
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) is required, and Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) is preferred.
- Auditing experience a plus
ATTRIBUTES NEEDED FOR THE ROLE
- Skilled in researching state and federal laws, policies, and regulations, such as fraud and abuse, HIPAA, data privacy, and Medicare/Medicaid issues.
- Strong skills in managing projects, improving processes, and independently executing compliance functions
- Flexible and able to navigate change while maintaining focus on organizational goals and external requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including governing bodies.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills to solve complex problems.
- Strong listening skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
