Summary
The Wright Daycare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team! In this role, you’ll prepare nutritious and child-friendly meals, ensuring our children enjoy healthy, delicious food in a safe and hygienic environment.
With over 13 years of excellence in daycare services and leadership guided by a Director with 38 years of child care expertise, we are committed to providing the best for our children—including meals that fuel their growth and development.
The cook will prepare and cook large quantities of food for daycare children in our cafeteria. Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation. Since working in a child care facility, cook is required to pass background check, health screening / work physical, and TB test.
Duties
- Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
- Apportion and serve food to facility residents, employees, or patrons.
- Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.
- Clean, cook and serve 3 healthy meals a day
- Monitor use of government food commodities to ensure that proper procedures are followed.
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
- Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
- Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
- Bake breads, rolls, or other pastries.
- Train new employees.
- Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Monitor menus and spending to ensure that meals are prepared economically.
- Plan menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability.
- Requisition food supplies, kitchen equipment, and appliances, based on estimates of future needs.
