Inventory Coordinator Lead
Reporting to: Production Manager
Location: Climate Controlled Warehouse
Schedule: Overtime and weekends may be required
Job Purpose:
Maintain inventory accuracy at manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and record incoming and outgoing materials.
- Operate forklifts and manage inventory systems (Great Plains/Batch Master).
- Prepare shipment paperwork and handle general housekeeping.
- Distribute packaging for production runs.
- Isolate finished batches until inspected by Quality Assurance.
- Maintain plant machinery and facility.
- Control issued equipment and PPE.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, notifying supervisor of unresolved issues.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and company policies.
- Study shipping notices and other records to determine priorities and assignments.
- Communicate with corporate personnel and carriers regarding sales orders and shipments.
- Oversee shipping activities to ensure accuracy and condition of shipments.
- Determine space requirements and position shipments in trucks.
- Inspect shipping vessels and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Maintain daily forklift check sheets and warehouse inspection forms.
- Direct movement and storage of shipments.
- Post weights and shipping charges.
- Prepare bills of lading and verify received materials against Purchase Orders.
- Create international documentation for shipments.
- Allocate materials using RF handheld scanner.
- Complete Packaging Request Form for traceability.
- Adhere to instructions and standardize procedures for efficiency.
- Resolve worker grievances and maintain harmony.
- Prioritize safety in daily operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage cycle count inventory process.
- Manage stock levels of packaging materials.
- Ensure proper expense of packaging materials.
- Review expired inventory and quality holds.
- Handle non-conformance items.
- Work with Sales Team on excess and expiring material.
- Ensure FIFO and FEFO processes are followed.
- Act as backup for Shipping & Receiving and Batch Ticket writing.
- Offer strategies to control inventory costs.
- Assist Finance Team with forecasting and budgeting.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with inventory management experience.
- 1-3 years in a similar role, preferably in food or pharma manufacturing.
- Experience with Great Plains software and Excel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing plant.
- Forklift certification required.
Work Environment:
- Production environment with exposure to dust, noise, extreme temperatures.
- Mandatory use of PPE.
- Work on elevated areas, ladders, scaffolding.
- Stand for 80% of shift, walk for 20%.
- Work in confined spaces.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift/move containers up to 55 lbs.
- Climb stairs and work standing up to 7 hours per day.
- Exposure to dust and food manufacturing chemicals.
