What You’ll Do
The Navigational Coach is responsible for building partnerships with families to assist them in identifying strengths, needed services, goals, and support systems in order to facilitate economic mobility. The Navigational Coach is responsible for providing ongoing guidance and counseling to out-of-school youth ages 16-24. This position will serve as the main touchpoint and advocate for youth from recruitment, orientation, and intake through program completion and post-exit follow-up services (one year after exit). The Navigational Coach will drive youth success by assisting youth with goal-setting, following up to provide assistance and alleviate barriers to success, and documenting outcomes achieved.
Program Development
- Develop and lead new and expanded initiatives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Devise strategies to ensure growth of programs and initiatives.
- Oversee youth recruitment, screening, intake, eligibility determination, and enrollment, including promotion of programs and assistance in obtaining needed documents for enrollment (i.e., proof of income, health records).
- Develop Individual Service Strategies with youth, monitor progress, and update action plans at least once per month. As part of the process, interview youth and evaluate needs; identify and connect youth to appropriate support services/resources.
Instruction and Facilitation
- Provide case management services for youth to reduce or alleviate barriers to active participation and maintain continuity in services.
- Maintain regular contact with youth and conduct outreach for youth who need to be reengaged. Monitor and track attendance and retention rates (enrollment through post-exit).
- Create, review, manage and update youth files to ensure compliance with funding guidelines, including case notes and verifications. Conduct periodic file reviews and assist with monitoring visits.
- Assist with employment, post-secondary, and work experience placements and tracking, including services provided during follow-up (one year after exit).
- Serve as a course facilitator or instructor as needed.
Community Engagement
- Coordinate logistics, secure vendors, and manage event budgets to ensure successful implementation.
- Promote education initiatives through various communication channels, including email, intranet, and social media.
- Represent the organization at community events and meetings.
Resource Management
- Manage supplies, equipment, and facilities to ensure they are available and in good condition.
- Prepare and maintain budgets for education programs and projects.
- Support funding opportunities and write grant proposals to support education initiatives.
Data Management and Reporting
- Implement program evaluations and assessments (e.g., surveys) to include program delivery, customer service, effectiveness, and progress toward employment objectives.
- Monitor program progress and outcomes to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and requirements.
- Enter data into Delaware Job Link and Apricot systems and conduct file audits.
- Analyze information and maintain complete, organized, and accurate documentation (including email communication) on program performance and outcomes for management and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance service quality, delivery efficiency, and effectiveness.
What We’re Looking For
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Services, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or related field OR Associate’s Degree and three to five years of equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience working with at-risk participants in a social services or education setting. Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic (preferred)
Certification Requirements
First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 60 days of hire.
Conditions of Hire
- A satisfactory criminal background and reference check, a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record are required at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Work Environment and Requirements
- Schedule: This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 11:30am-8:30 pm.; however, this position may require day hours and weekend work.
- Travel: Primarily local during the business day, with some out-of-area or overnight travel as needed.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use technology, and move about to facilitate workshops or meetings.
