What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zoo Camp Coordinator position at The Zoo in Forest Park & Education Center?
Job purpose:
To provide an enjoyable and educational experience for teens ages 6-13
Duties and responsibilities:
· Oversee day-to-day Zoo Camp activities
· Serve as the manager-on-duty for Zoo Camp
o All incident reports and child safety concerns should be handled by the Zoo Camp Coordinator
· Oversee Zoo campers on animal enrichment
o Develop and coordinate activities with animal care and/or Director of Education
· Oversee Zoo Camp daily schedule and communicate effectively with parents
o Oversee drop off and pick-up
· Create weekly schedules for additional Zoo Camp staff to be approved by the Director of Education
· Other Zoo Camp related tasks as assigned by the Director of Education
Requirements:
· Must have at least one year of experience working with children ages 6-13
· Must have at least one year of hands-on animal handling/animal education experience
· Must be least 18 years of age
· Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions (rain, extreme heat, etc.)
· Must be able to successfully pass all background checks
Preferred:
· Current first aid, CPR, medication administration certification
· Day Camp Director Certification (American Camp Association or other equivalent governing body)
· Experience in a supervisory role with children/young adults
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
