Theatre Week includes a series of special events in September and October. The events included in the Event Producer’s responsibilities are :
Monday, September 9, 5-7pm : Theatre Week Launch Party at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company
Saturday, September 28 : Bus Tour with Smithsonian Associates
Date TBA : #DCTheatre Bike Rides (MD, VA, DC)
Date TBA : Downtown #DCTheatre Walking Tour
The Event Producer’s role is to work with Theatre Washington to help envision and execute the events above. This includes :
Theatre Week launch event for approximately 200 special guests with food and drink, activations, media and digital content creation, and a high level of engagement with the DC-area theatre industry
Bus Tour with Smithsonian Associates, ensuring that the program has featured content from DC-area theatres and meets the overall goals of Theatre Week
DCTheatre Bike Rides : 3 bike rides, approximately 2 hours each, which may ride through Maryland, Virginia, and DC with stops at theatres for engagement and conversation
Downtown #DCTheatre Walking Tour : A walkable route of downtown’s theatres with engagement and activation at each stop
If additional events are added to the schedule, compensation will be negotiated
They will also :
Create a schedule of events with programming details confirmed on or before August 15
Secure talent with the support of the Theatre Washington staff
Attend a one-hour weekly meeting with the Theatre Washington team beginning in July
Attend each event to ensure the planned programming and content is executed
Participate in a debrief / feedback discussion with Theatre Washington after the event
The Events Producer must have a flexible weekday schedule, 9am to 7pm, for certain responsibilities, including meetings and correspondence.
The Events Producer will work with the Theatre Washington team and contractors, including :
Arena Stage Events and Production Team (site of Kickoff)
Three Assistant Stage Managers
Production Support Staff, Ticketing and Box Office Staff, Crew, Volunteers
Talent for Kickoff Fest
Sponsors, including food and beverage
Communications and Marketing, Liz O’Meara-Goldberg
