Job Description
The purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored Church of Jesus Christ around the world. Some Church messages are delivered as music via print, web, app / mobile, social media, streaming, and other delivery channels in 100 languages.
This position is a part of the Publishing Services Department (PSD) of the Church. The PSD charter states that the department will "provide digital asset management system leadership and related support.” The Asset Manager fulfills this role by managing born digital media files, ingesting media into various PSD systems, preparing them for editing and other post-production workflows, finding and moving files as requested by production teams, and publishing music assets to Church platforms. The asset manager also manages metadata in asset management systems.
This Music Asset Manager 3 position is housed within the Scripture and Music Production Division, specifically within the Music Translation and Publishing Section and would be tasked with supporting the Music Publishing team. This position reports to the Senior Music Publisher for the Church. The asset manager would responsibly manage and maintain files and prepare approved materials for publishing by helping input and maintain the databases that store and deliver music media to Church channels. The material produced, managed, and published by this group includes print sheet music such as hymns, magazine music, youth music, special events, etc. Audio is not produced by the Music Publishing team, but the team does house, manage, and distribute all audio assets for Church channels.
This is a fully-benefited, time-bound role with an expected end date of June 30th, 2030. This role can be fully remote. The ideal candidate for this role would be available to begin in a full-time capacity on or before May 5th, 2025. The starting salary range is between 70K-80K, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
The two primary responsibilities of this position include 1) asset management of musical assets on the back end and 2) publishing assets to church distribution channels and / or streaming platforms (i.e. Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). Work is assigned on a project basis internally based on individual product needs.
- 40% Perform duties of an Asset Management Specialist 1 and 2 as a project requires, such as organizing, cataloging, and or ingesting media. Best practices are required, including following file naming conventions, organizational skills, etc.
- 40% Prepare, monitor, and distribute client-approved products to Church channels through management of the music database.
- 5% Assist in database cleanup and preservation of assets per requests of management.
- 5% Understand the business requirements of a project and translate them into an asset management plan and requirements for complex projects (projects with a variety of asset types, multiple deliverables, crossing divisions, or atypical specifications and / or metadata schema).
- 10% Exercise stewardship over server workspaces and usage.
