Job Title: Manual Lathe Machinist
Location: West Bridgewater, MA(Onsite)
Second Shift

Client is an international market leader in the engineering and manufacturing of web handling, material handling, and converting solutions. Our broad portfolio of products is marketed to the paper, tissue, film and foil converting industries.
This individual will join a team of skilled professionals in our facility. You will be working with other members of our highly skilled operations team regularly. This role requires extensive experience in solving complex issues related to making quality products, most of our products made are single pieces and require tight tolerancing to ensure proper fit.
Responsibilities
Operate manual lathe equipment in a low-volume, high-mix environment multiple set- ups daily up, occasionally using steady rests and 3 or 4 jaw chucks.
Work from process sheets, blueprints or other written/verbal instructions to perform production tasks.
Load machines manually or using a crane when maneuvering large, awkward or heavy
parts. Setup and read micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
Maintain machine and work area in a clean and safe manner.
Check and inspect work against predetermined tolerances.
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and pieces on machines,
using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Perform preventative maintenance
Excellent communication skills are required to interact directly with Supervisor/
Application Engineering/Programming to collaborate on process improvements
Other duties, as assigned or needed
Requirements
Math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to read and comprehend drawings, and interpret when there is some ambiguity
Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and
positioning components up to 50 lbs.
Excellent communication skills required to interact directly with Management, Engineering and others to collaborate on process improvements.
Must be able to consistently stand for an entire shift
Ability to work in a team environment
Familiarity with lean and continuous improvement
Reliable
Willingness & ability to work overtime when needed
Positive attitude and willingness to work in a challenging and accountable environment is
Required
Willingness to train in other areas and to train others
Education And Experience
Minimum of 15 years’ experience with manual lathes
Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials and general mechanical knowledge is required.
High level of mechanical knowledge and aptitude
