Summary :
The Graduate Nurse is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing who has received a temporary permit to practice from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. Working as a member of the patient care team under the direct supervision of an RN, the Graduate Nurse provides healthcare and clinical services centered around the unique needs of each patient according to the plan of care. The Graduate Nurse works in a multi-disciplinary team setting in order to meet the needs of patients, families, and significant others.Job Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs skills and procedures, including medication and IV administration skills, as validated on their competency checklist under the direct supervision of an RN.
Assists with the assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care to provide the independent, interdependent, and delegated services to patients and significant others, including assessment, planning, and evaluation of physiological, psychological, and spiritual dimensions.
Identifies and assists with meeting the patient and family education needs.
Provides quality cost-effective care by assisting with the individualization, mutuality, and coordination of health services that assure continuity of care.
Demonstrates knowledge and application of growth and development, cultural diversity, and special needs appropriate to the patient population served.
Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Wisconsin Temporary RN Licensure or have an NCLEX exam scheduled within 60 days.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Occasional high noise level in work environment
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.
