Summary :
The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing computer generated radiation dose distributions, calculating radiation dose treatment times, and monitoring unit settings to deliver prescribed radiation to a defined tumor volume as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Accurately documents all phases of the planning process in the medical record and communicates the care plan to the oncology team.Job Description:

1. Hybrid Model: 50% remote/50% on site requirement (equivalent to 2 weeks per month on site) Flexible team environment that works together to coordinate the onsite schedule rotation.
2. Monday-Friday work schedule, overtime may be required dependent on patient volume

ABOUT THEDACARE RADIATION ONCOLOGY:
The Radiation Oncology Department at ThedaCare is located within a state-of the-art, award-winning comprehensive cancer center in Appleton, WI. The Cancer program adheres to best practices and evidence-based treatment techniques, and includes a large progressive research and clinical trials program. The Radiation Oncology program achieved full ASTRO APEx accreditation in October 2022. 60-80 patients per day are treated on two Varian True Beam linear accelerators (Installed 2015) with Varian RGSC and Align RT capability, Accuray CyberKnife S7 robotic accelerator (Installed 2020), and a Nucletron microSelectron HDR after-loader. The department also has a new Canon Aquilion Exceed Large Bore CT simulator (Installed 2021). Aria and Eclipse treatment planning, Precision Cyberknife treatment planning, Oncentra Brachytherapy treatment planning, MIM software with AI contouring, Radformation’s ClearCheck and EZFluence software, and Rad Calc. The successful candidate will join an experienced team of 4 Medical Dosimetrists, 2 Medical Physicists, 4 Radiation Oncologists, 2 Advanced Practice Clinicians, 12 Radiation Therapist and 7 Registered Nurses.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Collaborates with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the patient treatment plan by applying critical thinking and problem solving skills to evaluate the effectiveness of the radiation dosing.
2. Utilizes evidence-based practice to maximize efficacy of radiation dosing in treatment planning. Interprets criteria and develops treatment plans as defined by relevant treatment protocols, and creates an individualized treatment plan that accounts for special needs appropriate to the patient population served.
3. Registers PET/CT or MRI images with simulation CT’s to create extremely accurate, deformable fusion/registration.
4. Creates meaningful plan documentation and secondary calculations and maintains them in the EMR to support any and all appropriate planning charges.
5. Assists in simulations to help determine the appropriate immobilization and other treatment devices for patient setup, and provides guidance to the radiation oncologist on isocenter placement.
6. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to effectively and efficiently provide patient care and achieve the desired outcomes. Knows and understands the expertise of disciplines outside of radiation oncology and encourages their involvement in the patient’s plan of care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ARRT certification in radiation therapy
MDCB board certification in medical dosimetry, or eligible
Experience as required for board eligibility
Must achieve MDCB within two years
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
May be exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
