Lead Software Engineer (Project Management Focus)

As a member of the Research & Product Innovation Department (RAPID), the Lead Software Engineer is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions. This position merges technical expertise with project management acumen to lead secure and scalable platforms and applications.

The ideal candidate will coordinate and support software development lifecycle activities while planning, documenting, and communicating progress across stakeholders. Advanced experience in Agile environments, project leadership, and cross-disciplinary collaboration will ensure successful project delivery.

• Core Development
• Design and build software systems while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
• Develop middleware, APIs, communication protocols, and visualization engines.
• Troubleshoot and recommend resolutions for development issues or bugs.
• Project Management Responsibilities
• Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and budgets in alignment with client expectations.
• Create project roadmaps and monitor milestone progress while mitigating risks and adjusting schedules.
• Lead cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration and alignment with project objectives.
• Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder updates to promote transparency.
• Coordinate resources, prioritize tasks, and manage workflows to maintain project efficiency.
• Team Leadership
• Act as the technical SME to mentor development team members and support milestone completion.
• Promote continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and teamwork across project teams.
• Foster collaboration between development, QA, UX teams, and clients.
• Quality Assurance
• Validate milestones, manage code documentation, and coordinate deliverable releases.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
• Agile and CI/CD Practices
• Lead Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to manage and organize project workflows.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to enhance efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
• Client Interaction
• Participate in client meetings and presentations to address questions and challenges professionally.
• Assist in contract documentation such as Statements of Work (SOW) and project timelines.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in software development and engineering.
• 5 years of experience managing projects in an Agile environment.
• Proven track record of managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder communication.
• Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C , Ruby).

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or Project Management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP).
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello, MS Project).
