About the Opportunity:
Theoris is seeking a talented Electronics Product Engineer to join our team. As an Electronics Product Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new electronic products or improving current ones using various engineering disciplines and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive new product development programs using the Stage-Gate process, completing and/or delegating all engineering activities within a given program.
- Provide guidance to designers/supporting engineers for designs, drawings, requisitions, etc., to meet regulatory, process, electrical, and project requirements.
- Work collaboratively to execute projects with various internal competencies (testing, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, and finance).
- Support customers with technical information and initiatives, including developing and/or creating design concepts, CAD models, prototypes, and technical reports/presentations.
- Engage with suppliers and outside contractors to accomplish key outsourcing activities like part sourcing or contract design.
- Develop and execute validation testing to qualify designs through the product development process.
- Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize work.
- Gain peer and management product insight through informal and formal design reviews.
- Utilize design tools available to maximize development time while ensuring optimal product design.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with electronic circuit technology design and assembly processes.
- Mixed signal (analog digital) circuit design and analysis.
- Schematic design/capture (KiCad preferred).
- Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design/layout (KiCad preferred).
- Software development for embedded microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry-Pi, Nucleo).
- Creation of electronics bill-of-materials (eBOM).
- Sourcing PCBAs at the prototype and production stages.
- Automotive experience with crash sensors (aka airbag controllers) will be preferred.
- Development of systems requirements for systems procurement from external suppliers.
- Working with contracted (external) suppliers on the development and calibration of systems.
- Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electronic systems.
- Knowledge of Bluetooth and other wireless technology (e.g., Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, RFID, etc.).
- Experience in mobile app development (iOS/Android) will be preferred.
- Exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.
- Ability to construct electromechanical proof-of-concept demonstration mock-ups.
- 3D CAD design of simple mechanical components (SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred).
- Soldering of electronics/electrical circuits (including breadboards and PCBAs).
- Use of electronics diagnostics equipment (O'scopes, DMMs, Data-Loggers, etc.).
- Use of basic hand and power tools for system assembly/construction.
- Must have general knowledge of manufacturing and assembly methodologies.
