What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraprofessional with Administrative Support position at Theracare Pediatric Services?
Location: The Learning Center by Theracare, 1818 East Baseline Road Mesa, 85204
Benefits: After 90 days of employment
- Student Support: Assist students with special needs in both individual and small group settings to promote learning, socialization, and independence.
- Academic Assistance: Support students with assignments, modify lessons as directed, and help with adaptive technology and materials.
- Behavioral Support: Work with the classroom teacher and special education staff to implement behavior intervention plans and strategies.
- Communication with Parents: Maintain consistent, clear, and professional communication with parents through written reports, emails, and phone calls.
- Scheduling: Assist in scheduling, and other appointments for special education services.
- Administrative: Billing, verifying, communication, follow ups, planning events, and recording attendance.
- Therapy Referrals: Supporting therapy referral team with required paperwork.
- Light Cleaning: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom and common areas, including sanitizing materials and student desks.
- Toileting and Personal Care: Provide assistance with toileting, diapering, and other personal care needs as required for certain students.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the teacher, special education team, and other staff to support student success and create a positive learning environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate's Degree or higher.
- Previous experience working with children, especially in special education or a related field, preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction.
- Patient, empathetic, and flexible with a strong desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.
- Basic knowledge of office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, etc.) for scheduling and communication tasks.
- Ability to lift and assist students with physical needs as required.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
