The car accident that started Therafit Rehab. Rich Ayres (brother and uncle to our company owners, Justin Gilligan and Gina Della) was struck by a drunk driver head-on in January of 2001. Due to the accident, Rich suffered a traumatic brain injury and his life was instantly changed. He was in a vegetative state with very limited therapy resources due to his limited awareness and resources to treat his condition.
It was a long road to recovery. Most of Richs rehab was performed at home by his sister, Gina Della. Realizing the severe gap in outpatient Neurological Rehab, Gina set out to do something about it. In Jan of 2006, we opened our first Therafit Rehab location in Westminster MD. Today, Therafit Rehab has 6 locations in Maryland and New Jersey, providing specialized neurological outpatient rehabilitation.
