What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Trainer position at Therapeutic Oasis?
At Therapeutic Oasis, we are passionate about working as a collaborative team to help clients achieve their life worth living. We are a DBT and mindfulness-based counseling center specializing in treating complex cases across the lifespan such as trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety, depressive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, developmental disorders, and more.
We are looking for a certified fitness trainer to work with our private clients in a safe and trauma-sensitive environment. Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years' experience providing individual and/or group training sessions.
Among other duties, the fitness trainer’s main responsibilities include:
- Provide fitness sessions to support Clients’ appropriate intentions, such as increasing behavioral activation, releasing endorphins, increasing connection to the body, and developing a supportive relationship with movement
- Conduct sessions that are inclusive of all body shapes and sizes
- Approach treatment from a non-weight loss, non-diet perspective
- Create a safe environment for individuals dealing with trauma, eating disorders, or other body-related issues by providing options, giving permission to opt-out, and other best-practices
- Collaborate with the Client’s treatment team to ensure the highest caliber of care is provided in line with the Client’s treatment plan
- Communicate urgent concerns and relevant observations from sessions to the Client’s treatment team
- Adhere to Oasis Standards of Treatment
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with Clients
- Document Client sessions in accordance with Oasis guidelines
- Collaborate with Oasis staff on Client scheduling and availability
- Be able to identify when a Client may need additional mental health professional support
- Protect Client’s personal health information (PHI) and maintain confidentiality
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a valid, nationally recognized personal training certification and have been certified for at least 3 years
- At least 3 years’ experience providing individual and group training sessions

- Demonstrate professionalism and compassion in all aspects of their presentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to create custom training plans based on individual needs
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification a plus
