What are the Main Responsibilities and Duties of the Associate Director of Accounting?

Payroll :

You will perform and manage all aspects of multi-state payroll and work performed by Sr. Accounting Manager.
You will interpret company pay policies and reconcile schedules, e.g. vacation, sick, personal day, insurance, etc.
You will maintain payroll reporting, time report tracking, payroll related journal entries, e.g. bi-weekly payroll, vacation accruals, R&D labor allocation, etc.
You will review and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
You will prepare bi-weekly 401(k) employee deferral transmittals and annual safe harbor match.
You will prepare documentation for annual workers compensation audits.
You will prepare documentation for annual 401(k) 5500 non-discrimination testing.
You will coordinate with team members to source and implement automated time tracking system.

Billing :

You will develop and implement processes and controls to ensure billing and revenue recognition is accurate in accordance with customer contracts and GAAP.

You will maintain complex internal workbooks and reconcile to general ledger and client billings.

You will coordinate with clinical development to accurately prepare investigator payments and accruals.

You will prepare custom ad hoc client reporting.

You will provide support for revenue forecasting models.

Accounting :

You will maintain accounting internal control policies and processes.

You will establish timelines and manage month end close, reviewing general ledger for accuracy.

You will manage fixed asset reporting and record keeping including asset additions, disposals and property tax reporting.

You will maintain audit ready financial records and reconciliation schedules.

You will support financial reporting ensuring GAAP compliance.

Other :

You will support executive team, contracts and business development, as needed.

To Succeed in this Position :

You must hold a Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related business administration.

You must have a minimum 5 years of experience in corporate accounting.

You must possess in-depth experience in payroll, billing and financial reporting.

You must have prior people-management experience.

You must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

You must have strong experience in ADP payroll and QuickBooks or equivalent.

It is a plus if you have experience with time tracking payroll implementation or working within a clinical research organization.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $157,500- $165,000 per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individuals exact level of compensation.Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.

Please note that this position is required to work onsite in our San Diego office 5 days a week.
